It started with an idea. Then came the 2 AM and 4 AM wakeups, a morally gray Fae king, and an entire world I couldn’t stop thinking about.
I wrote a freaking book.
I still can’t quite believe I get to say that.
In just over a month, A Crown of Thorned Fate, the first book in The Solaryn Series, will officially be out in the world.
What started as an idea somehow became hundreds of pages, an entire realm, a sentient castle, ancient magic, a dangerous Fae king, and characters who decided they were going to occupy my brain at all hours of the night.
And I mean all hours.
There have been 2 AM wakeups. 4 AM wakeups. Scenes rewritten more times than I’d like to admit. Entire conversations with fictional people in my head. Last-minute edits. Cover changes. Formatting. Proof copies. Audiobook production. Special editions. Sprayed edges. Endpapers. Shipping supplies stacked around my house.
Indie publishing has taught me that writing the book is only the beginning.
So I created Beyond the Veil.
This is where I’m going to share everything that doesn’t quite fit into a social media post—the stories behind the books, character deep dives, deleted scenes, worldbuilding, sneak peeks at what I’m writing next, and the occasionally chaotic reality of being an indie author.
And yes, we’re going to talk about the business side too.
Because one of the biggest surprises for me has been discovering just how much it actually costs to publish a book independently. Printing. Editing. Proofs. Distribution. Website fees. Marketing. Packaging. Shipping supplies. Swag. Audiobook production. And about seventeen other expenses I didn’t know existed when I decided, Hey, I think I’ll publish a book.

At some point I’m going to break down the actual numbers—what a book sells for, what it costs to print, what retailers take, and what an indie author actually keeps.
But first?
We’re about to release a book.
